My Story
A travel journal, written in the quiet moments between the chaos of parenthood
I'm Sarah — a mom of one, an adventure planner with a strategic pocketbook, and a firm believer that a life well traveled is true wealth
How this began
Hi, I am Sarah Marie...
I’m a single mom to an amazing son and the traveler behind this blog. After years of putting trips on hold and collecting a long list of “one days,” I finally stepped into a new chapter of freedom, exploration, and rebuilding. With my son as my ultimate travel buddy, I’ve made it a priority to fill our lives with meaningful adventures—big and small.
When I first started planning, the idea of traveling solo with a child felt overwhelming. I struggled to find realistic itineraries designed for a single parent traveling with an elementary-aged kid. Through trial, error, and lots of research (and snacks), we’ve created unforgettable memories, learned countless lessons, and strengthened our bond.
Travel has become my way of reclaiming joy, rebuilding confidence, and showing my son the beauty and diversity of the world. I created this blog for anyone like me—juggling real life, parenting, healing after major life changes, and trying to travel on tight schedules and even tighter budgets.
Whether you’re searching for quick weekend getaways, planning a summer vacation, or looking for guidance on traveling after divorce, I’m here to share practical tips, realistic 3-day itineraries, vacations to fill those school breaks, and budget-friendly family travel ideas. I want to help you turn your “one day” into your “today” and create core memories with your kids. If you’re ready to explore more, embrace new beginnings, and travel with confidence—no matter your season of life—you’re in the right place. I’m so glad you’re here!
How We Travel
How We Travel
01
Real Over Perfection
Not everything is picture perfect, well behaved, or flawlessly planned — and that's OK!
02
Memories Over Checklists
Yes, I make and love the checklists! BUT we don't live by them- often our favorite memories were the unplanned moments.
03
Budget Where We Can, Splurge Where It Counts
Save on the little things so that you can say YES to the magical moments you'll talk about for years to come!
